Ways to Serve

One way we say thank you to God for all of the blessings we have received is to give of our time and talent in service. Service is also a concrete way we can respond to God's call to love our neighbors! Below are just some of our regular service opportunities. There are others throughout the year (like our Diaper Daypalooza when we pack diapers for the Indiana Diaper Bank). If you would like to stay informed about these and other opportunities to share God's love with the community, please click  HERE!

Sunday Morning Greeters

Join our team of Greeters to help welcome folks to worship on Sunday mornings. We need greeters at the Central Ave. entrance and the 47th St. entrance. Please be in place by 9:40 a.m.  More information/training will be provided once you sign up!

Church Garden (Spring/Summer/Fall)

Our community garden is a volunteer partnership between the church and members of the local community. The fruits (and vegetables) of our labor are donated to the Northwood Food Pantry, for which we also collect non-perishable goods. Our primary mission is to provide fellowship and generosity. Our garden relies on volunteers to help plant, water, weed and harvest. Children four and older (with an attentive adult) are invited to assist. With room to share, our local neighbors, Parkview, and CFI #70 families are invited to contact us if interested in a plot.  For more information, email office@fmhpc.org

Day of Caring (Fall)

Our annual Day of Caring takes place each fall. Our church family divides into smaller groups and helps local non-profits complete tasks they may not be able to do themselves. Activities have included painting and cleaning out storage barns, weeding gardens, yard work for the elderly, demolishing abandoned homes, writing letters to home-bound seniors, sewing puppy pillows for children at Eskenazi Health, preparing meals at the Ronald McDonald House, and much more.  If you would like to be contacted about the Day of Caring (but don't wish to be on our weekly email list), please send an email to office@fmhpc.org and ask to be notified when the Day of Caring is approaching.

Giving Tree (Christmas)

Every Christmas we provide gifts and/or gift cards for families through Coburn Place, 91 Place, Trinity Haven, and more. We also provide gift cards for clients of the Northwood Food Pantry.  The Giving Tree is usually put out the last Sunday of November.

Food Pantry (Year Round)

On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, we work at the Northwood Food Pantry at 46th and Central to help serve our neighbors in need. Children over the age of eight are welcome to assist their parents/guardians. For younger children, childcare can be arranged by contacting the church at least one week in advance. See the weekly email for more information or email office@fmhpc.org.
